Thus, look out for a column of popular categories, and optionally an additional menu that lets you browse them in-depth.

Sites that are frequently updated with new content will also have some categories to reflect that – such as “most popular”, “top picks”, etc. This can be used as a good way of telling if the site is kept up-to-date or if they just rely on the same old themes forever. Just have a look around the “most popular” category, and pay close attention to the upload dates of the themes there – if you see some that have been recently added and have made its way to this category, you probably have a reliable website.
